Statement of Fitness to Work

From 6 April 2010 a new fit note is to be introduced to replace the doctor’s sick note.

Procedure here at North Bicester Surgery:

• No ‘fitnote’ will be provided before 7 days. A self certificate is completed for the 1st 7 days of sickness. This is available from your employer or at our reception.
• After 7 days the new ‘fitnote’ is completed by the Doctor.
• You may not necessarily have to see the Doctor; a telephone consultation may be available. Telephone the surgery and speak to one of the receptionists.
• A fit for work certificate is no longer necessary and doctors will not provide one.
• There will be no charge for the fitnote.
• Private sick notes are still available on request.
